This is just a render, but the guys over at Autocar in the UK seems to think so.

The current smallest Electric vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz line up is the EQA which is basically an electric GLA.

This means it’s was designed to be an internal combustion powered vehicle and then converted to an electric vehicle. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just that a vehicle designed to be an EV from the start has some advantages over one that wasn’t. The most notable being aerodynamic and weight benefits which will most certainly have an effect on range.

Next gen A-Class EV rendered by Autocar UK

Mercedes-Benz will launch a new electric vehicle platform designated MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture and not as far as I know anything related to Mixed Martial Arts:) and according to them will have 7 clear benefits which will be discussed in a follow-up article.

To get back to the pic above, this is a render from the guys at Autocar suggesting what they believe the new A-Class EV could look like. I think they are onto something here especially if you take into account the similarity to the styling of the recent Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX which is almost certain to signal the direction the EQ line of Mercs will head into.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX

Exciting times, we can’t wait to see how close this is to the actual final product in a few years time.
